Red represents socialism, the struggle against British colonialism and the blood of Sudanese fighters.
The white represents purity and optimism.
Black represents the Sudan and the Revolution of the Mahdi.
The green triangle represents prosperity, agriculture and Islam.
The current Coat of Arms of Sudan was adopted in 1969. The central element of the coat is a secretary bird, which is the official state bird, carrying a shield of the time Muhammad ibn Abdalla (1844-1885) who ruled the Sudan and self-proclaimed Mahdi (Messiah) in 1881. On the shield there are two tracks, one on top that contains the national motto "al-Nadir Nila" ("The victory is ours"), and the lower band is the official name of the country, "Al-Jamhuriya the Sudaniya" (Republic of Sudan).
